Thinking Activity on The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga
Only reading online summery is not gave us that much knowledge than the book gave us. There is not a big issue that you have to read whole book but at least you should read few pages of introduction and ending part that gave us more knowledge rather than refer from online.
1. How far do you agree with the India represented in the novel The White Tiger?
India presented as multi-color country, so if anyone write on there language people are attacked on you, but if you write on English language, that is much batter for you. In the White Tiger by Arvind Adiga represent the real India that what's going on in India, all the things tell by one character and that is Balram. If I take one example of Slumdog Millionaire, that movie represented the reality of India, that what's going on around the Elite class and slums, and how politics played by elite people that have money.
2. Do you believe that Balram's story is the archetype of all stories of 'rags to riches'?
those who born in slums or lower class, there dream are seems like rags to riches, but not all are rich that position. There are one or two that can build their empire, but in that process there are many problems came and many were killed, for become riches. Balram is best the example, he represent the riches people how they rich that position. that is not as much simple as we think, so Balram is the best example of capitalist people.
3. "Language bears within itself the necessity of its own critique, deconstructive criticism aims to show that any text inevitably undermines its own claims to have a determinate meaning, and licences the reader to produce his own meaning out of it by an activity of semantic 'freeplay'(Derrida, 1978, in Lodge, 1988,p. 108). Is it possible to do deconstructive reading of The White Tiger? How?
Deconstruction is the theory that we can do character study, by doing center to peripheral. It is like we can do study of all the character by putting those in center. Like if we do study of Balram he represented as Half-baked Indian. while having all the knowledge, but he still introduced as half-baked.

4. On what grounds can you deconstruct the film with reference to post colonial tools/theories.
Postcolonial study helps us to question the power dynamics. like the way of presenting the Real India to compare with Foreigners, it seems clear that Directer is Danny Boyle, can capture the reality of India but on other hand he capture foreigners are good and well educated. but the reality is they came here for living some months because they have money issue, and India is the best country for living months because India is not too much costly while we compare with dollar. so we can also deconstruct that foreigner are not rich, but poor in money so that they came India.
5. Compare with Texture and Treatment of subject content in film and novel.
In the novel and movie tells the reality of India, and darker side of India, even we can say that show the build new India. But if we see the politics in both we find many things in a deeper way. Politics run for money, and slums are do all the things for money even they can murder for money. Now this narration presented in both the things, as we known as politics.
